I came across this quote recently, “A real New Yorker is a New Yorker searching for New York”. Then I came across The Urban Eye hosted by Jerry Rio.
Yes, things do change and always change. Unfortunately the last big changes in New York were set on this city by people who have no feeling for “the city”.
In this wonderful documentary, you have brought us back to a time when New York was an individual and artistic event.
You have given us a closer look at the Hawaii Kai. And you have reminded us that if we look, we still might catch a fading glimpse of signs painted on the sides of buildings. It is hard to imagine not so long ago there were so many neon signs.
Your interviews are absolutely priceless, I really mean it. To interview the owner of Papaya King, I do not know of anyone else who has interviewed the owner of this New York City Landmark.
The Urban Eye was enhanced by your creative photography and videos and of course by the wonderful original soundtrack and brilliant narration.
What an outstanding documentary. I am so glad that I found it.
